Mark Miller, Ferry Point Marina’s Mechanical Services Manager, was recently commissioned to custom-modify a special lift chair for Mr. Robert Kelly. This is an example of a challenge that Mark delights in – because of the inherent engineering puzzle, but more so because of the hours of enjoyment on the water that it will bring for Mr. Kelly. Mark, known by some as the “Oracle of the Chesapeake,” has garnered a reputation as the man who can fix or improve practically anything. He began his work as the Head Mechanic for Peninsula Yacht Services in 1992 and became the Mechanical Department Manager in early 2008. In December 2007, Peninsula was acquired by Ferry Point Marina and the new company, Ferry Point Yacht Services, LLC, was formed. Prior to this, he was a Machinist Mate in the Navy, Microwave Service Technician and Assistant Manager for Norelco Appliances, Residential Journeyman Electrician, Master Marine Electrician, and Propulsion Engineer and Machine Shop Manager for the Chesapeake Bay Institute. He carries a SuperTech certificate in Sealand Vacuflush Systems and Yanmar Diesels.
